Applications for the Excellence Awards 2023

The SafeInno Foundation, established by the Association for the Promotion of German Fire Protection (vfdb), will again present the Excellence Awards in the coming year. They are among the highest awards for special work in the field of hazard prevention. The awards are presented in three categories: "special scientific achievement", "research and development" and "special organizational achievement".

A total of up to 7,500 euros in prize money is being offered. The award will be presented in May 2023 at the vfdb Annual Conference in Münster. Individuals can apply. Applications must be submitted digitally in German or English together with the documents, stating the category, by February 15, 2023. In the category "special scientific achievement" the documented result of a scientific investigation is required . As a rule, this requirement is fulfilled by a dissertation or habilitation at a German university. Documents to be submitted are, for example, dissertation or habilitation thesis with grading.

The category "Research and Development" calls for the development of an innovative product or service. A description of the innovative product or service developed and the benefits for users must be submitted. The category "special organizational achievement" is about the development or optimization of processes, methods or procedures. A description of the developed or optimized process, method or procedure, its effects and testing must be submitted.

For all applications, a curriculum vitae of the candidate with a cover letter is required. Both self-applications and proposals by third parties are possible. The performance share of the candidate for the Excellence Awards in the special achievement must be significant and clearly recognizable from the documents to be submitted. The work submitted must not have been completed more than two years ago.
